Lotto Results South Africa: Your Guide to Every National Lottery Draw

This page updates with the latest lotto results south africa as soon as each draw is complete. You will find the winning numbers, Bonus Ball, prize division breakdowns, and jackpot information for all six National Lottery draw games: Lotto, Lotto Plus 1, Lotto 5 Max, Daily Lotto, PowerBall, and PowerBall Xtra. If you have just checked your ticket and want to know more about how a specific game works, what you have won, or how to claim, everything you need is below.

About the South African National Lottery

The National Lottery is operated by Sizekhaya Holdings (RF) (Pty) Ltd under the Fourth National Lottery Licence, issued in terms of the Lotteries Act, 1997. Sizekhaya took over from the previous operator on 1 June 2026 and is regulated by the National Lotteries Commission. Every draw is independently audited, and the results published on this page are sourced from the official National Lottery data feed. Always verify your numbers against your physical or electronic ticket before taking any action.

Lotto Results: How the Main Draw Works

Lotto is the longest-running and most widely played National Lottery game. Players pick six numbers from 1 to 52. Seven numbers are drawn in total: six main numbers and a Bonus Ball. The Bonus Ball is the seventh number drawn and it determines who wins Divisions 2, 4, 6, and 7. Lotto draws twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday at 21:00.

A single Lotto board costs R5.00 including VAT. When you buy a Lotto ticket you can also add Lotto Plus 1 for R2.50 and Lotto 5 Max for a further R2.50. These add-on games use the same six numbers and enter them into their own separate draws that run immediately after the main Lotto draw. You need to play Lotto to enter Lotto Plus 1, and you need both Lotto and Lotto Plus 1 before you can add Lotto 5 Max.

Lotto Prize Divisions

There are eight ways to win a Lotto prize. You need to match at least two main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to qualify for the lowest division. The top three divisions are pari-mutuel, meaning the prize amount depends on how many tickets were sold and how many people are sharing that division on the night. Divisions 4 through 8 pay fixed guaranteed amounts every draw regardless of how many winners there are.

Lotto Prize Divisions Explained

South African Lotto prizes are split between pari-mutuel prize divisions and fixed prize divisions. The higher divisions share a prize pool, while the lower divisions pay fixed amounts.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.
Division Winning Requirement Prize Type Payout
Division 1 Match 6 main numbers Pari-mutuel pool 60%
Division 2 Match 5 main numbers plus the Bonus Ball Pari-mutuel pool 15%
Division 3 Match 5 main numbers, no Bonus Ball Pari-mutuel pool 25%
Division 4 Match 4 numbers plus the Bonus Ball Fixed prize R4,000
Division 5 Match 4 numbers Fixed prize R200
Division 6 Match 3 numbers plus the Bonus Ball Fixed prize R200
Division 7 Match 2 numbers plus the Bonus Ball Fixed prize R30
Division 8 Match 3 numbers Fixed prize R20

Note: Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3 share the pari-mutuel prize pool. Fixed prize divisions pay the stated amount per winning board.

Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto 5 Max Prize Divisions Explained

Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto 5 Max use the same eight-division structure as the main Lotto draw, but the prize pool split and fixed prize amounts are different.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.
Division Winning Requirement Prize Type Payout
Division 1 Match 6 main numbers Pari-mutuel pool 45%
Division 2 Match 5 main numbers plus the Bonus Ball Pari-mutuel pool 20%
Division 3 Match 5 main numbers, no Bonus Ball Pari-mutuel pool 35%
Division 4 Match 4 numbers plus the Bonus Ball Fixed prize R2,000
Division 5 Match 4 numbers Fixed prize R100
Division 6 Match 3 numbers plus the Bonus Ball Fixed prize R100
Division 7 Match 2 numbers plus the Bonus Ball Fixed prize R15
Division 8 Match 3 numbers Fixed prize R10

Note: Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3 share the pari-mutuel prize pool. Divisions 4 to 8 pay fixed prize amounts per winning board.

What Happens When Nobody Wins the Jackpot?

If Division 1 is not won, the jackpot rolls over to the next draw and keeps building until someone claims it. The largest Lotto jackpots in South African history have grown through long rollover streaks. If Division 2 goes unclaimed, its pool drops down to Division 3. If Division 3 also has no winners, that amount is added to Division 1 in the following draw.

Lotto 5 Max has a slightly different end-of-month rule. If the jackpot has not been won by the last draw of the calendar month, it cascades down through Division 2 and Division 3 before any amount rolls forward to the next draw. The rollover count and estimated next jackpot for each game are shown in the results widget at the top of this page.

Daily Lotto Results: Every Night at 21:00

Daily Lotto draws every single night at 21:00, making it the most frequent source of latest lotto results on this page. It is a simpler game than the main Lotto draw: five numbers from a pool of 36, no Bonus Ball, and a ticket price of just R3.00 including VAT. Because it runs nightly, the jackpots do not build to the same size as Lotto or PowerBall, but the odds of winning any prize are considerably shorter.

Daily Lotto Prize Divisions Explained

Daily Lotto uses a fully pari-mutuel prize structure. This means payouts are not fixed and depend on the prize pool and the number of winners in each division for that draw.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.
Division Winning Requirement Prize Type Prize Pool Share
Division 1 Match all 5 numbers Pari-mutuel pool 35%
Division 2 Match 4 numbers Pari-mutuel pool 10%
Division 3 Match 3 numbers Pari-mutuel pool 15%
Division 4 Match 2 numbers Pari-mutuel pool 40%

Note: Daily Lotto does not have fixed prizes. All divisions share the prize pool. If a division has no winners, its share rolls down to the next winning division. If no prizes are won in any division, the entire prize pool carries over to Division 1 in the next draw.

On nights with low ticket sales the prize pool is smaller, but the payout per winner can be generous if few people share a division. The Daily Lotto summary card above shows the most recent draw result, total ticket sales, and the prize pool for that draw.

PowerBall Results: South Africa's Biggest Jackpots

PowerBall is where South Africa's largest National Lottery jackpots are found. It is a double-matrix game: five main numbers from 1 to 50, plus one PowerBall number from a separate range of 1 to 16. Both parts of the combination need to match the draw result to win Division 1. PowerBall draws on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 21:00, and because the odds of hitting the jackpot are longer than in Lotto, the top prize tends to roll over more often and reach much higher values.

A PowerBall board costs R10.00 including VAT. PowerBall Xtra is an optional add-on for R5.00 that enters the same combination into a parallel draw with its own prize pool. You have to play PowerBall first before you can add PowerBall Xtra.

PowerBall Prize Divisions Explained

PowerBall has nine prize divisions, more than any other South African National Lottery game. The top three divisions share a pari-mutuel prize pool, while the remaining divisions pay fixed prizes.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.
Division Winning Requirement Prize Type Payout
Division 1 Match 5 main numbers + PowerBall Pari-mutuel pool 91%
Division 2 Match 5 main numbers Pari-mutuel pool 6%
Division 3 Match 4 main numbers + PowerBall Pari-mutuel pool 3%
Division 4 Match 4 main numbers Fixed prize R2,000
Division 5 Match 3 main numbers + PowerBall Fixed prize R500
Division 6 Match 3 main numbers Fixed prize R100
Division 7 Match 2 main numbers + PowerBall Fixed prize R100
Division 8 Match 1 main number + PowerBall Fixed prize R20
Division 9 Match PowerBall only Fixed prize R10

Note: Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3 share the pari-mutuel prize pool, with Division 1 receiving the largest share. Divisions 4 to 9 pay fixed prizes per winning board.

PowerBall Xtra Prize Divisions Explained

PowerBall Xtra uses the same nine-division structure as the main PowerBall game. The top three divisions share the pari-mutuel prize pool, while the remaining divisions pay lower fixed prizes.

Scroll sideways to view the full table.
Division Winning Requirement Prize Type Payout
Division 1 Match 5 main numbers + PowerBall Pari-mutuel pool 91%
Division 2 Match 5 main numbers Pari-mutuel pool 6%
Division 3 Match 4 main numbers + PowerBall Pari-mutuel pool 3%
Division 4 Match 4 main numbers Fixed prize R1,000
Division 5 Match 3 main numbers + PowerBall Fixed prize R250
Division 6 Match 3 main numbers Fixed prize R50
Division 7 Match 2 main numbers + PowerBall Fixed prize R50
Division 8 Match 1 main number + PowerBall Fixed prize R10
Division 9 Match PowerBall only Fixed prize R5

Note: PowerBall Xtra uses the same pari-mutuel split as the main PowerBall game, with Division 1 receiving 91% of the pool, Division 2 receiving 6%, and Division 3 receiving 3%. Divisions 4 to 9 pay fixed prizes per winning board.

Unclaimed PowerBall jackpots roll over draw to draw the same way Lotto does. PowerBall Xtra applies the same end-of-month cascade rule as Lotto 5 Max: in the final draw of the month, an unclaimed jackpot cascades through the lower divisions before any remaining amount rolls forward.

How to Buy a National Lottery Ticket

All six games are available at authorised National Lottery retailers across South Africa and online at nationallottery.co.za or via the official National Lottery app. At a retailer you fill in a paper coupon, tell the cashier your numbers, or ask for a Quick Pick and let the terminal generate your numbers randomly. Online you do the same thing digitally. Your entry only counts once it has been recorded on Sizekhaya's central system and a ticket has been issued. An entry that did not generate a ticket is not a valid entry.

Quick Pick for multiple boards lets you generate up to 20 random sets of numbers in a single transaction. Multi-Draw enters the same numbers into between 2 and 10 consecutive draws on one ticket. Multi-Play lets you add one or two extra numbers to your standard selection, and the system automatically creates every possible combination from your expanded set, with each combination counting as a separate entry into the same draw.

You must be 18 or older to play any National Lottery game. The maximum spend across all games in a single day is R2,000 per person.

How to Claim a National Lottery Prize

You have 365 days from the draw date to claim. Any prize not claimed by 23:00 on that 365th day is forfeited and will not be paid out, so check your tickets regularly and do not leave old tickets sitting around unchecked.

How you claim depends on the prize amount. Prizes up to R2,000 can be paid out at any authorised National Lottery retailer, provided the retailer has enough cash on hand. Prizes between R2,001 and R49,999 must go through an authorised Prize Payment Centre. Anything R50,000 and above must be claimed directly through a Sizekhaya office. If you played online or through the app, prizes within the platform's approved limits can be paid into your registered account without visiting a retailer. A Prize Claim Form is required for prizes of R50,000 and above.

Prizes are always paid in South African Rand by cash, cheque, or electronic transfer. They are never paid in goods or services. If Sizekhaya needs to investigate a disputed claim, payment can be held for up to 365 days during that process.

Lotto Results FAQs

When are the lotto results drawn in South Africa?
Lotto, Lotto Plus 1, and Lotto 5 Max draw every Wednesday and Saturday at 21:00. PowerBall and PowerBall Xtra draw every Tuesday and Friday at 21:00. Daily Lotto draws every night at 21:00. Betline updates with the latest lotto results as soon as each draw is complete.
Who runs the South African National Lottery?
The National Lottery is currently operated by Sizekhaya Holdings (RF) (Pty) Ltd, which took over the Fourth National Lottery Licence on 1 June 2026. Sizekhaya is regulated by the National Lotteries Commission under the Lotteries Act, 1997.
How do I check if I have won the Lotto?
Check the winning numbers displayed on this page against your ticket. The results widget shows the main numbers, Bonus Ball, and the prize amount for each division. Always verify against your own ticket and the official National Lottery website at nationallottery.co.za before making a claim.
What is the Bonus Ball in the Lotto?
The Bonus Ball is the seventh number drawn in the Lotto, Lotto Plus 1, and Lotto 5 Max draws. It does not count for Division 1 but determines winners in Divisions 2, 4, 6, and 7. Matching the Bonus Ball alongside fewer main numbers moves you into a higher prize division than main numbers alone.
What is the difference between Lotto and Daily Lotto?
Lotto draws twice a week, costs R5.00 per board, and uses six numbers from a pool of 52. Daily Lotto draws every night, costs R3.00 per board, and uses five numbers from a pool of 36 with no Bonus Ball. Daily Lotto jackpots are smaller but the odds of winning any prize are shorter, and every prize division is pari-mutuel rather than fixed.
What does pari-mutuel mean?
Pari-mutuel means the prize amount is not fixed. Instead, a percentage of total ticket sales for that draw is divided equally among all winners in that division. The more tickets sold and the fewer winners, the larger each winner's share. Lotto Divisions 1, 2, and 3 are pari-mutuel. All Daily Lotto divisions are pari-mutuel. PowerBall Divisions 1, 2, and 3 are pari-mutuel.
What happens to the Lotto jackpot if nobody wins?
The jackpot rolls over to the next draw and keeps growing until someone wins Division 1. If Division 2 is also unclaimed, that pool drops down to Division 3. If Division 3 has no winners either, it is added to the Division 1 jackpot in the next draw. The current rollover count is displayed in the results widget on this page.
How does the Lotto 5 Max jackpot cascade work?
If the Lotto 5 Max Division 1 jackpot has not been won by the final draw of the calendar month, it does not roll over as normal. Instead it cascades down to Division 2 winners. If Division 2 is also empty it goes to Division 3, and only then does any remaining amount roll forward to the next draw. PowerBall Xtra follows the same end-of-month cascade rule.
How do I play PowerBall?
Pick five main numbers from 1 to 50 and one PowerBall number from a separate range of 1 to 16. To win Division 1 you need all five main numbers plus the PowerBall to match the draw result. A PowerBall board costs R10.00 including VAT. You can add PowerBall Xtra for R5.00, which enters the same combination into a separate draw with its own prize pool.
How long do I have to claim a National Lottery prize?
You have 365 days from the draw date to claim. The deadline is 23:00 on the 365th day. Any prize not claimed by then is forfeited. Check old tickets sooner rather than later.
Where do I claim a National Lottery prize?
Prizes up to R2,000 can be claimed at any authorised National Lottery retailer. Prizes between R2,001 and R49,999 must be claimed at an authorised Prize Payment Centre. Prizes of R50,000 or more must be claimed at a Sizekhaya office. Prizes from online or app purchases within the approved limit can be paid directly into your registered account.
How old do you have to be to play the National Lottery?
You must be 18 or older to buy a ticket or claim a prize in any National Lottery game. There is no exception to this rule.
Is Betline affiliated with the National Lottery?
No. Betline is an independent South African betting comparison site. The lotto results displayed on this page are sourced from ResultsZA.co.za for convenience. Betline has no affiliation with Sizekhaya or the National Lotteries Commission. Always verify your results at nationallottery.co.za before taking action.
